Bellefontaine Middle School held its annual spelling bee Wednesday afternoon.

35 students in grades 6-8 competed in the bee, which was held in the library.

In the 31st round, eighth-grader Sloan Stolly correctly spelled “wok” to become the champion.

Classmate Caden Yoder was runner-up.

Both students have qualified for the Logan County Spelling Bee at the Holland Theatre on January 16th at 6 p.m.

Stolly will also take an online spelling and vocabulary test in February to advance toward the Scripps National Spelling Bee.

Stolly is the daughter of Josh & Whitney Stolly.

Yoder is the son of Colin & Carrie Yoder.

Lindy Martin was the moderator at BMS.

Stephanie Fissel and Julie Kurtz were the judges.

Earlier this week, Garrett Gossard won the spelling bee at Bellefontaine Intermediate School.
