Red Ribbon Week

Red Ribbon Week was observed throughout Bellefontaine City Schools last week.

The purpose of the week was to increase awareness of the problems with drug addiction and the importance of healthy life choices and coping skills to reduce illegal drug use. Information about the help that is available in Logan County was shared with those who indicated they or someone they loved needed assistance.

Spirit Week was also held last Monday through Friday to promote a drug-free lifestyle. Students in all buildings dressed in pajamas, costumes, and Chieftain colors to show their spirit for BCS and to acknowledge the importance of drug-free choices.

High school DARE members went to the elementary school to read to all of the classes during the week. They read books with themes around positive coping skills and messages of support and friendship. The high school students led a discussion with the younger students about the week and the importance of making healthy choices.

The Drug Free Schools committee of Krista Belser, Lauren Burkhardt, Ciara Irick, Carol Fultz, and Kristy Mount along with the BHS DARE Club planned the week.
