BHS & BMS robotics teams advance to state

Two Bellefontaine City Schools’ robotics teams have advanced to the state competition.

Seven teams from BCS competed in the Milford VRC Vex Robotics Competition at Milford High School near Cincinnati on Saturday.

The event featured 57 middle school teams and 46 high school teams from around the state.

All six teams from Bellefontaine Middle School had a successful morning.

Team 7865A B-Town Team 1 (Cason Regula and Gabe Hallett) and Team 7865E-Excelle (Lillian Achor, Dalton Frazier, Brody Miranda, Addison Prosser, and Cody Robb) advanced to the afternoon single-elimination tournament.

Team 7865E-Excelle qualified for the Ohio Vex State Competition with a previous skills score of 128.

BHS was represented by Team 9185A-FOAM (Fearless of All Machines).

The team improved their skills score and advanced to the quarterfinals.

Team 9185A-FOAM (Alex Cavanaugh, Ryann Gatchel, Lorenz Henry, Cody Hudson, Hayden Maus, and Mason Swisher) qualified for the Ohio Vex State Competition with an improved skills score.

Both teams will travel to the John S. Knight Center in Akron next week.

Team 7865E will compete on March 1st and Team 9185A will compete on March 1st-2nd to try to advance to the Vex World Competition in Dallas, Texas, in April.

Sandi Chervenak and Jordan Reser are the co-advisors of the VEX Robotics Club at BHS & BMS.
