Recent Bellefontaine grad Kayla Watkins earned a prestigious academic award this month.

Watkins received a Southwest District Athletic Board scholarship.

The SWDAB held their 28th Annual Scholar-Athlete Reception at the Dayton Marriott Facility on Thursday, June 22nd.

The District Board honored 39 scholarship recipients along with their parents and school representatives.

Ohio High School Scholarships, OIAAA Scholarships, and Southwest District Board Member Honorary and Memorial Scholarships were presented.

Watkins was awarded the Harold Shank Memorial Scholarship.

Watkins was a standout golfer and bowler for the Lady Chiefs.

She will study business and play golf at UNOH in Lima.

Watkins graduated with a 4.4 grade point average at BHS.

Her parents are Eric and Samantha Watkins.
