Title: BHS Guidance Counselor

Years of experience: 33 years

Why you love being a Chieftain: First and foremost I really enjoy working with the students and their families. I learn something new every day from the kids that come into my office. I think the students keep me grounded. The people that I work with are so awesome and supportive. They really care about kids. The counseling office is an amazing place to work. It feels like family. Being new last year, I was welcomed with open arms. We work really well as a team so that we can provide the best care for our students. Administration is very supportive and works right along with us. I’m truly blessed to be a Chieftain.

Classroom motto or quote to live by: Josh Shipp says it best. “Every kid is one caring adult away from being a success.” This is so true. It’s a privilege to work with our students and I thank the families for giving us the opportunity to work with their students. I’ve seen time and time again where this statement is true. Kids need someone they can trust and feel comfortable with while at school.

What you love doing outside of school: I’m originally from South Carolina, so I love the beach. I go back every summer to read and sleep on the beach! I enjoy spending time with my nieces and nephews when we can all get together. March Madness is my favorite time of the year, so I love watching basketball and going to games!
