Several Bellefontaine High School students enjoyed a unique learning experience this month.

14 members of the BHS Envirothon Club attended the Teen EcoSummit at the Columbus Zoo.

Students participated in a workshop aimed at brainstorming potential projects around their school and community to reduce carbon emissions and pollution.

Attendees listened to a keynote address by Alexis Nelson, a James Beard Foundation Award winning chef and internet personality.

Students then toured the zoo, stopping at booths set up by local organizations who could potentially provide resources and grants for their selected project.

BHS seniors Maggie Howard and Gabe Foreman presented the preparation and results from their project to reduce waste by recycling at the Columbus Marathon.

The group plans on beginning a recycling initiative at Bellefontaine High School.
