Title1 Parent Involvement Plan

The Bellefontaine City School District defines parent involvement as the participation of parents in regular, two-way,  and meaningful communication involving student academic learning, student social emotional growth, and other school activities including the beliefs that:

  • Parents play an integral role assisting in their child’s learning and growth
  • Parent are encouraged to be actively involved in their child’s education
  • Parents are full partners in their child’s education with the school

The school district will provide coordination, technical assistance and other support necessary to assist school buildings in planning and implementing Title 1 activities.  In addition, the school district will coordinate and integrate parent involvement strategies with programs such as Head Start and preschool programs.

The school district will put into operation programs, activities and procedures for the involvement of parents in all of its school buildings.  Title 1 programs will be planned and operated by consulting with parents of participating children. Title 1 school buildings will:

  • Convene an annual Spring meeting to explain the program to parents and inform them of their rights to be involved.
  • Offer a flexible number of meetings through the school year during:
    • Parent-teacher conferences
    • Family nights
    • District leadership team meetings
  • Implement a school-parent compact and distribute/communicate this with families and make it available on the school website
  • Provide parents with a description of the curriculum, Ohio learning standards and expectations of student achievement and growth
  • Involve parents in the review of the program
  • Provide materials and training to help parents work with their child to improve academic achievement
